Emily Ratajkowski has insisted that there is “nothing better” than being divorced in your 30s as your “whole life” is ahead of you.
The model made the remarks amid Game Of Thrones actress Sophie Turner and her singer husband Joe Jonas confirming their separation after four years of marriage today.
Ratajkowski, who is 32, married Sebastian Bear-McClard in 2018 and had a son, Bear, with him before their split in July 2022 just before she turned 31.
“It seems that a lot of ladies are getting divorced before they turn 30,” she said in a video she posted on TikTok.
“As someone who got married at 26, has been separated for a little over a year, at 32, I have to tell you, I don’t think there’s anything better.
“Being in your 20s is the trenches, there’s nothing better than being in your 30s, still being hot...
“Maybe having a little of your own money, figuring out what you want to do with your life and having tried that married fantasy and realising that it’s maybe not all it’s cracked up to be and then you have your whole life still ahead of you.
“So for all those people feeling stressed about being divorced, it’s good. Congratulations, congratulations.”
She captioned the clip: “Personally I find it chic to be divorced by the age of 30.”
Turner, 27, and Jonas, 34, released a joint statement confirming their divorce on Wednesday, describing it as a mutual decision and requesting privacy.
Jonas officially filed for divorce on Tuesday, citing an “irretrievably broken” marriage and outlining his hopes for joint custody of their two children – a daughter named Willa who was born in 2020, and another daughter, born last year, whose name they have not made public.
The couple first met in 2016 after Jonas direct-messaged Turner “out of the blue” on social media after mutual friends had been attempting to introduce the pair “for a long time”, Turner previously told Harper’s Bazaar.
After a year of dating, the couple announced in October 2017 that they were engaged, with Turner sharing a picture of her diamond engagement ring on Instagram.
They got married in Las Vegas in May 2019.
The couple followed up their wedding with a second ceremony in the south of France in the June.
