Emily in Paris's hot chef Gabriel looked very different before filming Netflix show

Love it or loathe it, Emily in Paris has become a massive hit.

The Netflix show, which sees an American marketing executive move to the French capital for a new job, contains pretty much every mildly offence cliché you can imagine.

The beautiful Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, turns the head of almost every man she meets as she settles into her glamorous new life, and is inundated with offers from handsome French guys.

But the one she finds herself failing for isn't available, and is actually dating one her new Paris pals - awkward.

We won't go into the details as we don't want to spoil it for anyone who has somehow managed to resist binge watching all 10 episodes, but it's easy to see why Emily is rather taken by her hot chef neighbour, Gabriel.

He's described as one of the best chefs in Paris (Netflix)

Played by Lucas Bravo, Gabriel is there to help Emily throughout and they bond over omelettes in a pan he never washes (it's less gross than it sounds, promise).

A quick look at Lucas's Instagram page shows that he's just as handsome in real life, sharing pictures from photoshoots and behind-the-scenes Emily in Paris snaps.

But scroll a bit further back and you'll see he had a very, very different hairstyle before he started filming the show.

Back in 2018, Lucas had long locks which came down way past his shoulder, which he would often tie into a pony tail.

Fans have been quick to comment on the old snaps, and it seems they approve of the look.

One wrote: "Oh wow, you look surprisingly good with long hair."

Another added: "You should keep your hair like this! I love it."

A third commented: "Wow, you had long hair."

While many people love the show, others have not been impressed with viewers labelling it as "painfully awful" and "obnoxious".

One took to Twitter to write: "Emily in paris is so painfully awful like literally NOTHING about how her job works is realistic and the main character is too obnoxious to be watchable and im just so mad they fumbled the ball this bad it’s such a GOOD CONCEPT."

Another critic added: "Unpopular opinion: emily in paris doesn’t make any sense, it’s full of clichés, and gives a bad vision of paris and parisians, i mean wtf?"

However, many claim that it's so bad that it's actually good and makes the perfect easy watching.

One write: "I can proudly report that 'Emily in Paris' is the worst netflix original show in all of creation. It’s so bad, it’s good."

"Emily in paris is obviously unrealistic and kinda bad & predictable, but why must a show be GOOD? is it not enough to have mindless entertainment these days?"
