Emily Blunt recently shared that she drew inspiration from record-breaking Barbie director Greta Gerwig for her role in the upcoming action-comedy film, The Fall Guy. In the movie, Blunt portrays Jody Moreno, a movie director whose lead actor goes missing, leading her ex, played by Ryan Gosling, a stunt performer named Colt Seavers, to assist in the search.

Blunt mentioned in an interview with Total Film that her character, Jody, was loosely influenced by Gerwig, stating, 'With the warmth and the charm, I guess there's a little Greta in there.' She further explained that Jody's character was a blend of various individuals she had encountered.

Greta Gerwig made headlines last year for becoming the highest-grossing female director of all time with her film Barbie, featuring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Barbie grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide, marking it as the first live-action movie directed solely by a woman to join the billion-dollar club.

The Fall Guy's director, David Leitch, and his producing partner, Kelly McCormick, altered Jody's character from a makeup artist to a director to add depth to the storyline. McCormick mentioned that the change was made just before presenting Blunt with an early draft of the script to intensify the character's challenges.

Blunt expressed that the character development was a collaborative effort, stating, 'We all kind of built her together because I think, maybe in the original script, she was quite severe, that tough director.' She added that she finds it more compelling to portray a character who is out of their depth.

The Fall Guy is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 3, promising an entertaining blend of action and comedy for audiences to enjoy.
