Emily Atack sobs over special tribute to Welsh great-grandad on Who Do You Think You Are

Actress and comedian Emily Atack always knew her grandfather loved passionately supporting the Welsh football team Wrexham AFC, however never really knew why. But when appearing on BBC One's Who Do You Think You Are? Emily found out the incredible reason her family are such avid Wrexham supporters and became very emotional.

Emily went to Wrexham's stadium, the Racecourse, and met Professor Martin Johns where she learnt some surprising facts about her great-grandfather, Ted Robbins. Entering the stadium, Emily said: "I can not tell you how this special is." You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.

The star believed her great-grandfather was football secretary of Wrexham but he was actually secretary of the Football Association of Wales. Professor Johns said: "That meant that he basically ran football in Wales" and a shocked Emily exclaimed: "No way! So he was in charge of all of Welsh football?"

Emily was also shown a photo of Ted for the first time while Professor John explained that Ted was involved in picking which players would play for Wales. Professor Johns then showed Emily Ted's obituary from FA Wales which led to Emily becoming very emotional.

Reading out the obituary Emily began to cry, she said: "I don't know why I'm crying!" and wiped away her tears as she compared what was said about Ted to what was said about her grandad when he passed away. She said: "I just feel like all the men in my family are like this, my grandad Mike was like this, my uncle Ted is like this and this is where all those personalities have come from and I just didn't know."

Still emotional, Emily added: "It just makes me understand now, my grandad Mike was obsessed with watching Wrexham. It was everything to him and I just never knew, I never knew the real reasons why. I am so proud, so unbelievably proud."
