Emergency services tackle major fire at a Scottish industrial estate

A MAJOR fire has broken out at a Scottish industrial estate as emergency services raced to the scene.

Firefighters were battling flames at Brucefield Industrial Estate, near Livingston, after a fire broke out at around 1pm on Saturday.

Footage shared on social media showed black smoke billowing into the sky with the building engulfed in flames.

There are no reported casualties.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has advised people to avoid the area, and that residents in nearby houses should keep their windows and doors closed.

Police have reportedly closed roads at the Wilderness Roundabout, Cochrane Square, and Brucefield Park West.

A SFRS spokesperson said: “We are currently in attendance at a large building fire in Livingston.

“Firefighters are currently working to extinguish the fire, which has taken hold of a large factory and several adjoining buildings.

“There are no reported casualties.”

Police Scotland said officers are in attendance to assist SFRS.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 1.35pm on Saturday, 7 December 2024, police were called to assist Scottish Fire and Rescue colleagues with road closures following a fire at Brucefield Industrial Park, Hutton Square, Bellsquarry, Livingston.

“Officers have implemented road closures at Wilderness Roundabout, Cochrane Square and Brucefield Park West.

“Members of the public are asked to please avoid the area until further notice.”
