Emergency services swarmed a railway line after a person was struck by a train on Sunday (January 8). Trains were cancelled between Macclesfield and Cheadle Hulme, following the incident, near Adlington station.
Transport officers and paramedics attended the scene shortly before 1pm. Disruption to services continued for around 90 minutes before all lines reopened at around 2.30pm.
Any further details about the condition of the person involved have not yet been released, but British Transport Police have been approached for more information on the incident.

Announcing the incident, an update on National Rail said: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Cheadle Hulme and Macclesfield. Whilst they attend to the scene, some lines are currently blocked. As a result, trains between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised."
CrossCountry trains tweeted: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Stockport and Macclesfield, lines in both directions are currently blocked. We are currently unable to call at Macclesfield and Stoke On Trent."
National Rail later confirmed that the lines had reopened and the incident had cleared. The M.E.N has contacted British Transport Police for further information.
