A road has been closed by police and surrounding residents have been urged to keep their doors and windows shut after a large fuel spillage at a petrol station.
Firefighters and police are currently at the scene on Broadway in Urmston, Trafford, outside the Texaco service station. There have been no reports of any injuries and emergency services remain at the scene.
All motorists, however, are being advised to avoid the area as a result and diversions are in place, police said. It's understood a clean-up operation is underway.
Writing on Facebook, GMP Trafford North said a temporary road closure was in place.
A GMP spokesman said: "Police are currently working with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue due to a large fuel spillage at Texaco service station, Broadway, Urmston.
"As such motorists are advised to avoid the area and diversions are in place. Residents are urged to keep doors and windows closed at this time in the immediate area."
