Emergency services rush to reports of motorcycle crash in Glasgow's west end

Emergency services have descended on a busy junction in Glasgow following reports of a motorcycle crash earlier on Saturday.

Police and ambulance crews responded to a 999 call at 1.15pm to attend Dumbarton Road, between Crow Road and Hayburn Street. The smash is believed to have involved a red moped, and images shared on social media suggested it had been carrying a Deliveroo delivery rider.

A Scottish Ambulance Service incident response unit is in attendance at the scene. Eyewitnesses say that police are currently diverting passing motorists, but traffic data from Google Maps suggests there is build-up along the road and surrounding streets in the Partick area.

Locals say that it took half an hour for traffic to begin moving following the crash.

The rider was taken to hospital by ambulance, and a woman has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for alleged road traffic offences. Police Scotland was unable to provide any details on the rider's condition at the time of publication.

A force spokesperson said: "Around 1.15 pm on Saturday, 17 September, 2022, police were called to a three vehicle, two cars and a moped, road crash on Hayburn Street at its junction with Dumbarton Road, Glasgow.

"One man, the moped rider, has been taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. No details on any injury at this time. No one else reported as being injured.

"A woman will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal for alleged road traffic offences."
