Emergency services have descended on New Brighton following what appears to be a major incident near the waterfront.
Videos shared with the ECHO show a helicopter landing at the scene. Images show a police cordon covering part of the promenade is in place.
The coastguard is in attendance and both Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed they are assisting. The ECHO has approached Wirral Coastguard and North West Ambulance Service for further comment.
