Emergency services rush to Edinburgh street after 'pedestrian hit by taxi'

Emergency services have rushed to a busy Edinburgh street after a pedestrian was reportedly struck by a taxi.

Paramedics attended the incident at the foot of Leith Walk around 2pm on Saturday afternoon, February 25, and multiple Lothian Bus services were diverted away from the scene.

Alarming images show two ambulances and a taxi parked on the busy street. It is currently unclear if the pedestrian suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision.

The incident occurred outside Krema Bakehouse on Leith Walk as several concerned on-lookers stopped to check the person was okay.

One of those, who arrived shortly after the incident, said: "It looked pretty serious. I didn't see what happened but I turned the corner to see two ambulances covering the area where the person was hit.

"There were already a few people next to it who looked concerned. Paramedics were holding up a blue blanket for some privacy and buses were diverted as they couldn't get past. I hope the person is not seriously injured."

The Scottish Ambulance Service were approached for comment.
