Emergency services lock down busy Scots street amid building fire in city centre

Fire crews and police closed down a busy Edinburgh street after a blaze broke out at a property.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene on Lauriston street shortly before 7.45pm on Friday, December 23.

A cordon was put in place, near the junction with High Riggs, as first responders dealt with the incident, Edinburgh Live reports.

Four appliances were called to the scene alongside officers from Police Scotland.

The blaze is not being treated as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.55pm on Friday, 23 December, 2022, officers were called to a report of a fire on Lauriston Street, Edinburgh.

“Inquiries were carried out and the fire is not being treated as suspicious.”
