UPDATE: The road has now reopened.
A MAN and woman have been taken to hospital after a crash closed the A9 on Tuesday morning.
In a post shortly before 7am on Tuesday morning, Traffic Scotland confirmed the A9 at Tomich had been shut due to a “collision”.
It said: “A9 – Tomich. CLOSED in BOTH DIRECTIONS due to a collision.”
Drivers have been urged to use an alternative route at this time with Traffic Scotland saying it would provide more updates when possible.
Writing on Twitter/X, Police Scotland Highlands & Islands said: "Around 6.40am on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, we received a report of a crash involving a van and car on the A9 at Invergordon north of Tomich.
"Emergency services are in attendance. Drivers should use an alternative route."
The force later confirmed that the female driver of the car and male driver of the van were taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment and that enquiries are ongoing.
