'Embarrassing' admission made as Nottingham Forest cruise to victory over Reading

Reading fans were furious and embarrassed after they suffered a 4-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

Keinan Davis gave the home side the lead inside the first minute with a firm finish, but Forest were lacking consistent tempo throughout the first half and - after Max Lowe was taken off with an injury - the Reds entered the break 1-0 up.

But a second-half blitz from Steve Cooper 's side ensured the points would stay on Trentside and send Reading back to Berkshire in a downbeat fashion.

The Royals are just four points above Barnsley (22nd) and Derby County (23rd) having suffered defeat consecutively in their last three Championship outings.

Forest, on the other hand, are enjoying an excellent run in form and find themselves just points adrift of the play-offs with games in hand over a number of their closest rivals.

This is what Reading fans said on social media at full-time...

@Luke1871_: Embarrassing defeat to add to the collection. This club is all bark no bite. We don’t even deserve to be in this league. At least Dai is happy with this.

@JayceP33: Derby and Barnsley not winning so it’s ok but can’t rely on others! We go again Tuesday.

@STaphouse92: Paul Ince is taking us down. What a horrendous appointment.

@Huntyroyal: Absolutely pathetic make them walk home.

@Mathewjwhite: Today is the day that I've finally accepted we have no chance of staying up. We don't deserve to. Absolute abject mediocrity. No fight, no desire, little effort, players arguing amongst themselves. We're done.

@cornwallfox: At least we are consistent.

@saiint: Can we just get relegated now. Cba to wait for a few more months when we all know it's coming.

@ednoni: At least we put in some effort and fight….oh maybe not!!
