Elvis Costello pulls out of Edinburgh gig due to Champions League Final

It has been revealed today that popular English singer Elvis Costello has pulled out of his Edinburgh gig on May 28, thanks to his football team Liverpool getting to the Champions League Final on the same evening.

In a tweet by The Elvis Costello Wiki, fans have been contacted by Assai Records in Edinburgh to notify them that the gig has been cancelled.

The tweet reads: "Elvis's appearance in Edinburgh on May 28th cancelled, due to a sports thing."

And the email below it has said: "Good Afternoon, I am contacting you regarding your order for Elvis Costello 'The Boy Named If' Album + EDINBURGH The Caves Ticket - 28th May 2022.

"Unfortunately the event has been cancelled, we have the following statement:

"'Due to unavoidable footballing excellence in Liverpool, Elvis Costello will not be available for this planned event at The Caves, Edinburgh.

"Ticket holders will receive a refund for the ticket portion of the show & will be offered something very special by means of an apology! More details to come soon.'

"Assai Records are hugely disappointed that this is the case, and we have unsuccessfully tried to get a rescheduled date.

"We will process a refund for tickets and/or ticket elements shortly.

"Please let us know should you have any further questions."

Assai Records were contacted for comment by Edinburgh Live and confirmed that the email was sent out earlier today to inform customers of the "hugely disappointing" news.

Elvis Costello's newest album, The Boy Named If, was released on January 14, and Elvis was planning to perform an intimate showing of the album in the capital.
