Elton John heads to Sunderland after 'emotional' concert in Liverpool

Elton John is arriving in Sunderland on a serious high after an 'emotional' performance in Liverpool on Saturday night.

After injury disrupted Elton 's farewell tour dates, the music icon is now back on home turf for a string of massive gigs in the UK, one of those being his show at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, June 9. It's been a while since the now 75-year-old's many North East fans snapped up tickets for the date and there are now just hours to go.

Elton John's setlist features a whole host of classics from his enviable back catalogue, including I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues, Crocodile Rock, Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word and Your Song. He's been going down a storm in the likes of Norwich and Liverpool and it was the latter gig that prompted an Instagram post from the singer about how amazing the crowd were, telling fans he was genuinely moved by the response.
