Elton John confirms 'last ever UK show' at Glastonbury performance

Elton John took to Glastonbury's Pyramid stage in his first-ever appearance at the Somerset festival on Sunday night and confirmed it could be his last ever UK show. The Rocket Man singer's headline performance marks the final show at the festival this year, which has run from June 21 to June 25.

His much-anticipated set comes after after a weekend of great music, including a high-energy set from Manic Street Preachers, an emotional performance by Lewis Capaldi, and a huge Saturday night headline show from Guns N' Roses.

Opening his two-hour show with Pinball Wizard and The Bitch is Back, and dressed in a gold suit and his signature red-tinted glasses, Elton addressed the crowd, which some viewers think could be Glastonbury's biggest-ever.

He said: "Oh wow, I'd never thought I'd ever play Glastonbury - and here I am. And, it's a very special and emotional night for me because it may be my last show ever in England, in Great Britain. So I better play well and I better entertain you. You've been standing there for so long and I really appreciate all these outfits and everything - amazing."

His performance so far has received gushing praise on social media from views watching the coverage on BBC.
