Elton John at Ashton Gate: Full list of banned items including umbrellas, food and perfume

Sir Elton John is set to play Ashton Gate this week - not once, but twice. The Rocket Man will be taking to the stage at the Atyeo Stand end of the stadium on Wednesday, June 22 and again on Sunday, June 26.

The long awaited gig will kick off 7pm sharp, with the fan village opening at 4pm and stadium bowl 4.30pm. There are still just a few tickets left - but they are selling out fast.

Ahead of the big event, Ashton Gate has posted a list of frequently asked questions on its website, including what people can and can't bring in. Anyone with tickets to the gig will have to make sure they leave umbrellas, and any food or drink, at home.

Elton John at Ashton Gate: Everything you need to know

The first question many will have as they get ready for the big gig is - what can I take with me? And that's a good question worth asking, because there are strict security rules about what you can and can't bring in, and even how much stuff you can take with you. Bags, especially big ones, are being frowned upon. "If it is necessary to bring a bag, ensure it is as small as possible. Nothing larger than size A4 will be permitted. All bags will be searched on entry," said a stadium spokesperson.

"Suitable clothing in case of inclement weather. Umbrellas will not be permitted inside the venue. One bottle of water (500ml or smaller) in transparent plastic will be permitted, but these must be sealed on entry."

It has also posted a list of prohibited items, urging people to check their website nearer the time of the concert for any updates. The list of banned items are as follows:

  • Glass, cans, bottles or thermos flasks of any kind
  • Flammable liquids and aerosols (including perfume, hairspray etc)
  • Laser pens/pointers
  • Laptops, iPads, professional cameras/video equipment
  • Food and drink, unless for medicinal purposes
  • Umbrellas, signs, banners, flags, inflatables, selfie sticks
  • Air horns, whistles or other noise making devices
  • Knives or weapons, fireworks, confetti, glitter bombs or sprays

The website continues: "There will be a wide range of bars and food outlets located around the Stadium both inside the concourses and outside in the fan village. There are also plenty of toilets located inside the concourses as well as temporary toilets in the fan village."
