The beef between Microsoft (MSFT) and Twitter (TWTR) is heating up, and could eventually lead to a lawsuit.
Microsoft sent the first shot in this latest battle between the companies when it said Wednesday that Microsoft's Smart Campaigns -- its social planning and scheduling tools for advertisers -- would no longer support Twitter due to the company charging for access to its programming interface.

Smart Campaigns helps advertisers manage social media campaigns on the different platforms, but as of April 25, users will not be able to do things like create tweets and drafts, or see past tweets and engagement.
Elon Musk isn't one to take news like this laying down, so, naturally, he took to Twitter to respond to Microsoft, saying that it is "lawsuit time," for a completely separate issue.
Musk is referring to ChatGPT -- Microsoft invested $10 billion in ChatGPT's parent company, OpenAI -- which used to have access to Twitter's database for training before Musk decided to pull the plug.
Musk was an early investor in ChatGPT parent company OpenAI and is credited as a co-founder. He left the company's board in 2018, citing a conflict of interest with his work at Tesla.
But there are recent reports that Musk attempted to directly oversee the company's operations in 2018, but was rejected by fellow co-founders including current CEO Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, who is now president of the company.
