Elon Musk's transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, condemned the removal of transgender references from the Stonewall National Monument website, calling it an erasure of queer history, in a move that's likely to upset her father.
"Queer history can not and should not be erased. We need to remember the generations whose shoulders we stand on," said Wilson in a statement on Threads, the platform platform built as an adversary to her father's X.
On Thursday, the National Park Service quietly scrubbed transgender references from the Stonewall National Monument website, reducing LGBTQ+ to LGB. The site, which honors the 1969 Stonewall riots—a turning point in LGBTQ+ activism—now omits recognition of transgender identities. While not the first uprising against government persecution of queer people, the Stonewall riots galvanized the global movement for equality.
Wilson, who came out as transgender at 16, has cut ties with Musk, whose outspoken opposition to transgender rights has drawn controversy. In a 2024 interview with Jordan Peterson, Musk claimed he had been "tricked" into approving Wilson's transition, declaring, "My son Xavier is dead, killed by the woke mind virus."

The changes to the Stonewall site mirror Trump's broader efforts to roll back transgender rights. His administration issued an executive order recognizing only male and female sexes, froze passport applications for gender identity changes, attempted to ban gender-affirming care for minors—though a judge temporarily blocked it—and barred transgender individuals from serving in the military.
"He was cold," Wilson previously told NBC News about Musk. "He's very quick to anger. He is uncaring and narcissistic."
