He sent the alerts from the start, hoping it would create a big debate.
He then launched another attack, hoping that this time there would be a reaction.
But now tired, he seems to throw in the towel and accept what he sees as a downfall, the end of an era.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla (TSLA), has gained influence on the geopolitical scene since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. This unprovoked invasion has led to a war that now looks like it may have triggered a new cold war.
Ukraine is supported by the West via NATO and its allies, which provide it with military, financial and logistical assistance. The United States and the European Union have also imposed economic sanctions on Moscow, in an effort to isolate Russian President Vladimir Putin.
China-Russia
Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine to change the political regime there and install officials more favorable to the interests of Moscow. The invasion was meant to bring regime change in Kyiv, and the "denazification" and demilitarization of the country. The war objective will evolve toward "liberation” of the entire Donbass and finally the annexation of the occupied regions.
Putin has always seen Kyiv's desire to join the European Union and NATO as a threat to his country's sovereignty and security. According to him, having a NATO satellite as a neighbor is a danger he can't afford.
But for Ukraine and its allies, defeating Russia in this conflict is essential because they present this war as a clash between dictatorships and democracies.
But as the war, which has already caused thousands of deaths and displaced millions, has entered its second year, positions remain more or less stagnant.
The tactic of isolating Russia and its president, on the other hand, seems to have backfired. China, whose tensions with the United States are at their highest, has just moved closer to Moscow to the chagrin of the West. President Xi Jinping just wrapped up a visit to Russia during which he called Putin his "dear friend" just days after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against the latter for war crimes. The ICC said that the Russian president bears individual criminal responsibility for the abduction and "illegal" deportation of Ukrainian children since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war.
One of the great worries in the West is now to see the rapprochement between Beijing and Moscow become a real alliance, with the possibility that China may sell weapons to Russia.
For Musk, the new Moscow-Beijing axis, two communist nations whose relations have so far been only cordial, is a huge defeat for American diplomacy. He considers it a failure of U.S Foreign policy. For him, the United States had every interest in avoiding an alliance between its two enemies. The forging of such an alliance suggests that America has lost its influence on the geopolitical scene.
It is therefore a disaster. For the Techno King, as he's known at Tesla, U.S. foreign policy is without compass. It has tumbled off the podium and trailed behind. That's what he just said in a thread on Twitter.
'Below Bronze Tier'
It all started with a post by a Twitter user ,showing footage of Fox News claiming that the dollar is about to lose its luster on the international stage. The dollar is considered the reserve currency of central banks. This means that various national central banks, which hold reserves in foreign currencies, do so mainly in dollars.
This allows the United States not to have to hold foreign exchange reserves in currencies of other countries and especially helps to finance the deficit of its balance of payments. This status of the dollar dates back to the end of the Second World War and symbolizes the power of the US on the global stage.
But there are concerns, according to Fox News, that Russia is looking at the yuan to replace the dollar, and Saudi Arabia may follow. If this is confirmed, the dollar may lose its status, Fox concluded.
For Musk, if we get there, it is because American diplomacy lost its standing during the Russia-Ukraine war.
"US foreign policy now dropping below bronze tier," the billionaire blasted out on Mar. 28.
A few days ago the billionaire said that the "US diplomacy skill is bronze tier."
This decline is due, he said, to the fact that U.S. diplomats have become warmongers.
Last month, Musk accused the U.S. undersecretary of state for political affairs, Victoria Nuland, of not advocating for a peaceful solution.
"Nobody is pushing this war more than Nuland," the billionaire said on Feb. 22.
Nuland on Feb. 24 spoke with the Washington Post in response to Musk:
"I would start with a basic fact here .... which is if this war is to end, it could end tomorrow if Vladimir Putin chose to end it and to withdraw his troops" she said.
"So, this is not about us. This is about choices that Vladimir Putin has made to try to bite off pieces of his neighbor. And if we allow this as the United States, if we don't support the victim in this aggression, then this aggression will be replicated all over the planet in the years to come."
The State Department has declined to comment.
