If there's one thing that Elon Musk has made clear in his time as a billionaire, it's that if he wants something, he won't stop until he's gotten it.
He started musing about buying Twitter, on Twitter, last summer. And even though there was a lot of back and forth over whether he would go through with it or not, eventually he did, leading to an intense slate of changes that a lot of folks didn't care for.

But even while people boo his decisions left and right, Musk has a new achievement to crow over -- becoming the most-followed person on Twitter.
Musk's account has 133.05 million followers as of March 30, surpassing the previous record holder, former President Barack Obama, who has 133.04 million.
The timing of Musk's ascendance to the Twitter throne seems odd, considering that his most recent announcement that only Verified users would appear on Twitter's new For You section got such blowback that Musk reversed the decision.
On a bigger scale, Twitter has lost 50% of its advertisers since Musk took over, as well as suffering a stiff devaluation. Musk himself said in a recent company memo to employees that the business was worth 20 billion -- less than half of what he paid to acquire it on October 2022.
