Elliot Anderson details Newcastle United targets as he fulfils St James' Park dream

Newcastle United youngster Elliot Anderson says he got 'goosebumps' as he walked out onto the St James' Park turf against Atalanta on Friday.

Anderson impressed on his first senior appearances at St James' Park, winning a first half penalty which was converted by Chris Wood in the 1-0 victory. It was only a pre-season fixture, but it meant a lot to Anderson, a boyhood Magpies fan, to walk out in front of over 40,000 Geordies.

"I loved it," Anderson told NUFC TV. "It felt quite surreal walking out. I had a little look around and I thought 'this is everything I've dreamed of'.

"It was different to the others (pre-season friendlies). Even though it's a friendly, it felt really important for me to do well. It was a proud moment for my family.

"It was crazy. I was a bit shook up to start with but I managed to keep the nerves down and I think I did all right. I was quite nervous all day, to be fair. As I walked out, I had goose bumps."

After the Atalanta victory, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe admitted that Anderson is currently on course to stay at St James' Park for the new season, despite loan interest from a host of Championship and League One clubs. Burnley are the latest EFL club to be linked with a loan move for the 19-year-old winger.

"I'd love to stay," said Anderson.

"This is all I want, to be honest - to be a part of the first-team and to be involved and to be in matchday squads often. Hopefully that will happen."
