Elliot Anderson has admitted his delight at penning a new deal with Newcastle United. The 19-year-old has emerged as the Magpies' brightest prospect for a long time after a breakthrough 12 months.
Anderson flourished on loan at Bristol Rovers before returning to Newcastle and impressing over the summer. His first-team game time has been limited this term but Eddie Howe insists the player is close to making his mark in the senior side.
Speaking after the contract announcement, Anderson said: "I'm really happy. I love playing for Newcastle United, and committing my future to the club is something I've really wanted to do.

"It was my aim coming back into pre-season to work hard and earn the opportunity to stick around. I have really enjoyed being with the first team group, so hopefully I can keep improving and contribute to the team."
The teenager was expected to be loaned out during the summer transfer window with as many as 12 clubs from England's lower leagues and Scotland eyeing his signature.
However, his pre-season performances and start to the season for Howe's side made Newcastle's management re-think their decision.
Anderson has made three Premier League appearances so far this season but is yet to start a league game for the north east side. Many supporters expected him to feature from the outset against Bournemouth before a minor training injury ruled him out.
