Ella Beatty has been announced as the replacement for Elle Fanning in the play 'Appropriate' as it moves to the Belasco Theatre. Beatty, a Juilliard graduate, is currently showcasing her talent in Ryan Murphy's FX series 'Feud: Capote vs. The Swans' as Kerry O'Shea. She is also set to appear in the upcoming A24 film 'If I Had Legs I'd Kick You' alongside Rose Byrne and A$AP Rocky. Notably, Beatty is the daughter of renowned actors Warren Beatty and Annette Bening.
Joining a talented cast that includes Sarah Paulson, Corey Stoll, Michael Esper, Natalie Gold, Graham Campbell, Alyssa Emily Marvin, Lincoln Cohen, and Everett Sobers, Beatty's addition brings a fresh dynamic to the production. 'Appropriate,' written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by Lila Neugebauer, premiered at the Hayes Theater on December 18, 2023, and is scheduled to run until March 3.
Due to its success, the play will transfer to the Belasco Theatre starting March 25, with an extended run until June 23. Fanning, the current lead, will not continue with the production as she is set to begin filming the Bob Dylan biopic 'A Complete Unknown' after the play's initial run.
The move from the nonprofit Hayes Theater to the commercial setting of the Belasco Theatre marks a significant milestone for the production. Lead producers Ambassador Theatre Group, Annapurna Theatre, and Bad Robot Live have been instrumental in enhancing the play's journey to a wider audience. Additionally, new co-producers have come on board to support the extended run.
'Appropriate' delves into the story of siblings who return to their late father's home to settle his affairs, only to uncover a disturbing item that triggers a wave of family tension and conflicting perspectives on how to address the situation.
