Elizabeth Line Opening: How to buy London Crossrail merch, from socks to sofas

The long-awaited Elizabeth Line opened on May 24, transforming the daily commute for thousands of Londoners.

The London Transport Museum is celebrating the launch of the Elizabeth Line with new merchandise, ranging from accessories like scarves and socks, to furniture items including sofas and armchairs.

After 10 years and £19 billion, the opening of the Crossrail is definitely a cause worth celebrating.

Londoners–railway enthusiasts–can mark this momentous occasion with purple moquette memorabilia. Why not don an Elizabeth Line tote bag for your first journey?

Find out everything you need to know about the Crossrail merch below…

Elizabeth Line moquette

The new merch range features the new purple Elizabeth Line moquette–the patterned fabric that covers the seats on public transport.

The London Transport Museum explained the work that UK-based British design studio Wallace Sewell puts into designing a moquette on its blog, saying: “Working for Transport for London means a varying set of guidelines which need to be considered when designing.

“The rules for producing a pattern for Transport for London are always updating and designs typically require a quick turnaround time for production.

“Most recently, while working on the design for the Elizabeth Line, designers were required to consider the light reflective value of colours used. This update to the design requirements means that the pattern is now accessible for persons with varying degrees of sight.

“Working with purple was another challenge which Wallace Sewell were happy to meet as this is a colour which does not often feature in their designs!”

Elizabeth Line Furniture

The London Transport Museum is selling a range of made-to-order furniture upholstered with the Elizabeth Line purple moquette.

The range includes sofas, armchairs, footstools, benches, chests, and cubes. Furniture prices range from £200 to £3,500.

General London underground merch, like t-shirts and mugs, has also been updated with the Elizabeth Line’s signature purple.
