Eliza Coupe responds to criticism of recent The Residence premiere look

Scrubs star Eliza Coupe has spoken out following trolling of a recent premiere look.

The actress, known for her sharp-witted portrayal of Dr. Denise Mahoney in the medical sitcom, attended the premiere for her new Netflix show The Residence last week - but she was subject to nasty online comments over her appearance .

The 43-year-old shared some video footage of her over the last month on Instagram to her 63,000 followers, and in the hashtags appeared to address the commentary over her appearance.

The hashtags said: “This is what I really look like,” “haters can hate,” “I choose love,” “remember who you are,” and “transmute.”

At the premiere, which happened last week, she stunned in a metallic gold dress that glittered under the lights of The Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles, California.

She paired the shimmering dress with knee-high black suede boots and a black coat draped over her shoulders.

Her makeup featured a dramatic smokey eye and soft nude lips, adding to her striking appearance.

Coupe’s career began to soar during her time on Scrubs, where she won fans over as Dr Mahoney, the candid intern-turned-resident at Sacred Heart Hospital.

After Scrubs ended in 2010, she continued to shine in television, most notably with her role as the competitive and quirky Jane Kerkovich-Williams in Happy Endings, which cemented her status as a comedic force.

Now, the Hollywood star is taking on new challenges. In The Residence, she plays Margery Bay Bix in a mystery drama set inside the White House staff residence.

The series, created by Paul William Davies, also stars Orange is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the intricate relationships between the First Family and their staff, adding a fresh twist to the political drama genre.

In recent years, she has embraced a more spiritual journey, often sharing her experiences from her time spent in Joshua Tree, California.

Her upcoming book, Coyote Woman and the Odyssey of Soul Contracts, delves into themes of personal development, healing, and self-discovery.

Beyond acting and writing, she has been open about her health journey.

After struggling with food intolerances, she adopted a vegan diet and cut out sugar completely to improve her well-being.

She revealed in a previous 2017 interview: “I'm trying to heal that part of myself and also handle my physical issues naturally by putting the best things into my body.”
