Elite parking space could be yours for £70k but you'll only be able to open one car door

An elite parking space could be yours for £70,000 - but you'll only be able to open one car door.

Boutique estate agency Nicolas Van Patrick is selling the coveted at a shared garage in Knightsbridge, west London.

The two-metre wide rectangle hopes to fetch a premium price, although drivers will need to make do with accessing just one door.

Images of the tiny plot show a car only just fitting into the narrow gap, which is 5.5 metres long.

Such a narrow space would not fit larger SUV cars such as the Jaguar F-Pace, which measures 2.175m in width with the mirrors open.

The space is so narrow the driver would be forced to climb to the passenger seat in a right-hand drive vehicle to get out of the car.

Knightsbridge is known as being a playground for the rich and famous, being home to upmarket Harrods and the average terraced house selling for around £4.5million.

Patrick Alvarado, director and co-founder of Nicolas Van Patrick, said: "This parking space is best suited for left hand drive cars as then you can get out unencumbered."

The listing added: "A single allocated parking space with in a small garage which is sandwiched between Rutland Gate and Ennismore Mews.

"The space is approximately 2 metres wide by 5.5 metres long, with good height.

"With two automated gates operated by fobs, and CCTV the garage is considered to be very secure. It also benefits from access to water."

In addition to the £70,000 price tag, additional costs are the £369.46 per quarter service charge and ground rent of £48 per annum.

Ennismore Gardens is an exclusive enclave in South Kensington, where the average house price is £3,050,000 according to property website RightMove.

One property in the square, a 10-bed terraced house, is on sale for £26,750,000.

Named after Anglo-Irish politician Viscount Ennismore, Ennismore Gardens is a garden square established in 1840 and developed from the 1870s onwards.

Its wealthy previous residents included American actress and singer Ava Gardner, who resided at No 34 for many years.

The recommended width for a parking space is 2.4 wide by 4.8m long, according to guidelines drawn up by the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.
