Elie Saab created not one but four incredible wedding dresses for his daughter-in-law

Over the weekend, Elie Saab Jr., the son of Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab, and his partner, Christina Mourad, tied the knot in a three-day celebration held in the mountain resort of Faqra in Lebanon, surrounded by family and friends.

Mourad wore a total of four fabulous Elie Saab gowns over the course of the celebration, two of which were custom made for her by her father-in-law himself – one for their traditional Lebanese wedding ceremony, and the other for main reception dinner.

Christina revealed that she didn't have any input into the design of the dresses, and instead trusted Elie to reflect her personality and style into the haute couture dresses.

And why wouldn’t she? Saab’s ultra-romantic bridal creations are among the most highly sought-after on the planet.

Here are the four spectacular dresses she wore:

Dress 1: Pre-party gown

(Elie Saab)

The celebration started on July 18 with an oriental themed pre-party at the Plateau de Bakish. Christina wore a cream jumpsuit with a gold cape from the Haute Couture themed Fall-Winter 2019/2020 collection.

Dress 2: Religious Ceremony Gown

(Elie Saab)

On July 19, the couple tied the knot in a religious ceremony in Bkerki held by the Patriarch, Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, followed by a vin d’honneur organized by Neiman Azzi.

Christina wore an Elie Saab Haute Couture custom sleeveless tulle embroidered gown made of ivory silk and champagne lurex threads embellished with 500,000 sequins, a high neck bodice and a 4.5 metre train. Twelve embroiderers, three pattern-makers, six tailors and 10 petites mains worked on the gown.

In total, it required 450 hours of embroidery, 200 hours of tailoring and 80 hours of embroidery design.

Dress 3: Wedding Party Gown

(Elie Saab)

In the evening, there was a wedding celebration in Faqra Club attended by 1200 guests including Dita Von Teese, Chantal Thomass, Karolina Kurkova, Nadine Labaki, Toni Garrn, Lily Donaldson, Elissa, Nancy Ajram and Assi Hilani.

Christina opted for an Elie Saab Haute Couture gold and beige rosé heart shape corset gown with a voluminous skirt and a 3.5 meters trail inspired by the Haute Couture Fall-Winter 2019/2020 collection. The gown is embellished with 650,000 gold sequins and 150,000 Swarovski strass pieces.

Dress 4: After party gown

(Elie Saab)

The festivities ended with guests partying from sunrise to sunset at Elie Saab’s residence. The bride wore an aqua marine flowing silk georgette full length dress, embellished with a coral shaped brooch from the Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2019 collection.
