Elia Caprile set for Leeds United exit with 'agreement in place'

Young Leeds United goalkeeper Elia Caprile is reportedly set to join up with Italian Serie B side Bari on a permanent deal this summer.

Caprile spent last season on loan with Serie C side Pro Patria and after making his professional debut with the club he went on to make 39 appearances in all competitions. He kept 13 clean sheets during his time there and that helped Pro Patria secure a play-off spot for the second season running.

It seems the 20-year-old’s performances in northern Italy did not go unnoticed either with Sky Sports' Gianluca Di Marzio reporting the 20-year-old could be making the switch back to his homeland on a permanent basis. Bari were promoted as champions from Serie C last season and they are keen to take Caprile with them to the second tier of Italian football.

Di Marzio claims they have reached an agreement in principle with Leeds with the deal set to be a permanent one. The goalkeeper joined Leeds in 2020 from Chievo Verona, but despite being named on the bench on a handful of occasions, he has never made a first-team appearance for the Whites.

Caprile featured regularly for the club’s under-23s, though, making 19 appearances during the 2020-21 seasons and keeping five clean sheets. The Italian currently has a year remaining on his deal at Elland Road.
