Elgin City director resigns after being told to stick his money 'up his a**e' in bizarre email gaffe

An Elgin City director has walked away from the League Two club after he was accidentally told to stick his money 'up his a**e.'

According to the Northern Scot, Stephen Scott has departed the Borough Briggs board and 'withdrawn a record sponsorship deal' after claims a fellow board member said he could stick his cash where the sun doesn't shine in an email he was copied in on by accident.

The Gleaner Oils owner told how read the abusive email, that was allegedly sent between fellow directors last week, prompting him to quit his role at the club and pull his money out, having initially joined in 2019 after starting to support Elgin in the 1960s. It is claimed that Scott contacted the sender, who pleaded that their email had been hacked. He said: "On Friday I was copied in to a highly abusive email to other directors, suggesting amongst other things that I should 'stick (my) sponsorship up (my) a**e.'

"The person on the board of the club from whose account that email emanated has been at pains to claim that he had been hacked. But nonetheless – whilst I am no snowflake – there are limits.

"Further, after discussing with my wife and senior management at Gleaner we have decided to withdraw all of Gleaner’s sponsorship of the club. Where only weeks ago the club were celebrating an offer made by Gleaner to become, I’m told, the Club’s biggest-ever sponsor we cannot continue with this offer as the terms of the email circulated on Friday do not reflect the way in which Gleaner does business."

The Black and Whites announced what is reported to be a record sponsorship deal worth a six-figure sum in April. Their competitive season starts at home to Motherwell in the Viaplay Cup next month.
