Parents across Liverpool will no doubt be groaning next week when they realise December has arrived - and that means those pesky elves are back.
For those who aren't familiar with the Elf on the Shelf phenomenon that has captured the imaginations of grown-ups and kids alike, here's what you need to know. On December 1, the elves arrive usually with a letter or a gift to spy on your children and they fly back to the North Pole each night to report back to Santa on how well behaved they have been.
To get ahead of the game - and provide parents with some much needed inspiration - we've dug through the ECHO elf archives to bring some of the best ideas inspired by Elf on the Shelf that our readers have submitted to us over the years.

From elves getting kidnapped by other toys or going into quarantine - a big hit during lockdown - to snowball fights and digging through the cookie jar, there’s something for everyone. So if you need ideas to get the ball rolling - or just don’t fancy scratching your head every night before bed - take a look through our gallery below.
The elves will be back before you know it, so it's worth having these ideas under your belt instead of leaving it to the last minute. Feel free to send your own Elf on the Shelf ideas to our Facebook page too.
