Eleven people have been taken to hospital with dizziness and nausea, sparking a hazardous materials probe at a far north Queensland office.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads office's building in Cairns was evacuated after staff fell ill on Thursday.
Paramedics were called to the office about 8am after reports of people suffering from dizziness and nausea.
Queensland Ambulance Service's Lauretta Howarth said some people had fainted or were light-headed and others complained of a "funny taste" in their mouth.
"After the crew arrived on scene they realised fairly quickly there was an unfolding incident and there wasn't just one person that was affected," Ms Howarth said.
The 11 people affected were in a stable condition.
Hazmat experts are investigating the incident.
