The Duchess of Cambridge made a young girl's dream come true after they met in matching dresses. Kate Middleton invited Mila Sneddon to the Palace of Holyrood, Edinburgh, in May 2021, after the five-year-old wanted to meet a real princess.
Mila was four months into chemotherapy for leukaemia at the time. She wanted to meet Kate dressed in pink, as it is her favourite colour. During an earlier phone call Kate promised Mila that she would wear pink when they met.
The Duchess left her clothing choices into the hands of Mila instead of her professional stylists on this occasion, and they both wore long pink floaty dresses when they were introduced in person. A photo of Mila kissing the kitchen window whilst her father stood outside became a symbol of isolation during the pandemic's earlier stages reports Cambridgeshire Live.

Kate was delighted to meet Mila, and told her: "I want to give you a big squeezy cuddle, it's so nice to meet you in person. I love your dress, can you do a little twirl, and your shoes."
Following the meeting, Mila told ITV that she and Kate were "best friends." Mila was diagnosed with leukaemia in November 2019 when she was four years old. Two years later in April 2022, Mila was able to rang the bell at the Team Jack Cancer Centre to signal she was cancer free. To mark the milestone Kate sent her a handwritten letter.
The letter has been described by Mila's mother Lynda as "a beautiful keepsake for Mila to look back on for many years to come (content of which will not be disclosed) such a lovely gesture thank you Catherine Duchess of Cambridge".
