Electro-Voice’s new ZLX G2 portable powered loudspeaker is the perfect companion for practice or gigging

Electro-Voice speakers.

Electro-Voice’s ZLX line has been the standard for providing high-quality professional performance at an affordable price point for some time now, and the company’s new ZLX G2 iteration has just upped the stakes a bit more. The new two-way powered loudspeakers boast increased output, frequency range, durability and, with the eight-inch model (new for the series), even more portability.

The second generation of the ZLX line, the ZLX G2, which is also offered in 12-inch and 15-inch versions, boasts 1,000 watts of power, and sports several brand-new features, including remote-control mixing and monitoring via the Electro-Voice QuickSmart Mobile app, and stereo streaming.

The integrated four-channel, three-input digital mixer also includes onboard premium “Powered by Dynacord” electronics, high-quality effects, two XLR/TRS combo jacks, AFS (automatic feedback suppression), ducking, compression, loudspeaker delay settings and more.

The ZLX G2 offers five system mode settings – Music, Live, Speech, Club and FRFR (full range, flat response), and a particularly cool feature, as guitarist Jimmy Franklin points out in the above demo video, is the loudspeaker’s usability in FRFR. “When you connect the Electro-Voice QuickSmart app to the ZLX G2 you can choose FRFR guitar mode,” he says. “Right next to that option,” Jimmy continues, “you can choose the position of the speaker. This setting will optimize the overall EQ depending on what position the speaker is in.”

The result is a pro-audio loudspeaker that you can use to dial in your tone during the week and as a main PA or monitor for practice or gigs at the weekend.

“The ZLX G2 speakers are a staple of whether I'm using them for monitoring my gigs live or if I'm using them as PA speakers,” Jimmy says. “They're already coming to gigs, so that really cuts down the amount of gear that I have to bring with me.”

He continues, “Whether you want the eight-inch version for just playing at home, or the 15-inch because you really want to go and blow some doors off of some clubs, the ZLX G2 has something for everyone. Not only is this a great option for a PA speaker, it's also a great option for any guitar player.”
