Electrifying 80-metre score voted 'try of the season' leaves a number of defenders clutching at thin air

Side-steps, raw gas and a diving finish. You wouldn't expect anything less from the try of the season would you?

Old Albanian were facing Hinckley in National League Rugby back in September, and it is a score from that game which has just won 'Try Of The Season' for 2021/2022. It is a mind-boggling run from Alex Noot.

Hinckley cleared their lines straight into the grateful hands of Noot, who begins his epic journey to the whitewash from his own 22. The spectators must have been expecting something special from the Old Albanian fullback, as you can hear someone shout, "Go Nooty, Go!" before he'd even caught the ball.

'Nooty' starts his run with a trademark Quade Cooper step (as you do!), jumping into the air before jinking his body and changing direction, scything his way through a crowded defensive line. The hot-stepper impressively weaves his way through two more players, leaving the first man in the dust.

It's just open road now for Noot as he puts on the afterburners to ensure no one could catch him. As if all that wasn't enough, he dives over the try line. This is the icing on the cake, to complete a truly electrifying score.

The fullback got 45% of the vote on Twitter for his effort, and viewers were dead certain the 'Try Of The Season' had to be Noot's when the poll was first uploaded.

"Alex Noot, 100%, one of the best tries I've ever seen." said one.

"Alex Noot all day." said another.

Old Albanian went on to win the game 32-26, with Noot's try proving crucial as they took home the spoils. It is a score that some of us only dream of scoring.
