Electric Soul festival at the O2: Line-up, tickets, running order and everything you need to know

A brand new one-day festival specialising in funk, soul and disco is coming to south east London this weekend.

Electric Soul will take over two stages within one of the city's biggest music venues for its inaugural edition.

Acts from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s form a cross-generational line-up, which is sure to get the thousands in attendance up on their feet and grooving.

This is what you need to know about Electric Soul.

When is Electric Soul?

It will all take place on Saturday September 7, with doors opening at 4.30pm and the first of the main acts taking to the stage an hour later.

Where is Electric Soul?

The festival is housed within the O2 in North Greenwich.

Who is on the line-up for Electric Soul?

Kool and the Gang are the biggest name on the bill and will see out the night with headline set. It’s bound to be an encylopaedic show, dipping into all areas of their back catalogue and delivering a smooth selection of disco, funk, R&B, soul and more.

Level 42 will come through with plenty of 80s goodness — and a fair bit of slap-bass — while Heather Small will perform hits from her time as part of M People, as well as those released as a solo artist. The Brand New Heavies will get the party started with the first set of the day.

DJ Trevor Nelson will be spinning soul classics between sets, while Danny Toeman, Louise Golbey and Yoji are also set to play throughout the day.

What is the running order for Electric Soul?

Set times have been confirmed for each of the four main acts, with the rest of schedule due to arrive soon.

  • 17:30-18.20 — The Brand New Heavies
  • 18:50-19:40 — Heather Small
  • 20:10-21.10 — Level 42
  • 21:40-23:00 — Kool and The Gang

How to get to The O2 for Electric Soul

The best way to get to the venue is on the Tube. North Greenwich on the Jubilee line is the designated station, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the area. It’s well marshalled on big event days, meaning you should be able to get into and away from the gig with little problem.

There are also a number of buses — 108, 129, 132, 161, 188, 422, 472 and 486 — which all stop at North Greenwich station.

Anyone planning to drive to the concert can leave their vehicle in car park 1, which is only open to ticket-holders and must be pre-booked. There is also a free drop-off point in car park 1.

Car parks 2, 3 and 4 are open to those without tickets, and can be booked in advance. Check the website for more information.
