Electric Picnic site left in 'disgraceful' way as performer claims excrement smeared on portaloo walls

Over 70,000 people flocked to Stradbally over the weekend as Electric Picnic made a triumphant return to the calendar for the first time in three years.

Over three days of fabulous performances, the crowds were entertained by music, theatre, art, food, performers, comedy and a whole lot more.

The festival appears to have been a massive success for Festival Republic and it's organiser Melvin Benn, who confirmed that the 2023 edition will be "fully digital"

However, as has been the case for the last few editions, the campsites on Monday morning were filled with broken pieces of equipment, tents which hadn't been taken down and piles upon piles of rubbish, with some not placed in bags.

Comedian Martin Beanz Warde, who performed at the Comedy Tent on Saturday afternoon in Stradbally, took to Twitter to add his two cents to the mix.

He made a rather alarming claim when writing: "In all my life I have never seen dirtier people than those that were at EP this weekend. Excrement up along the walls and the roof of portaloos, the campsites were left like dumps. I know everyone says it's all part of the experience, but I just think it's absolutely disgusting.

"Before anyone thinks that this is a dig at the festival, it's not. The organiser made sure those toilets were cleaned everyday. It was the general public who were being disgusting. How does anyone manage to get excrement on the roof? The public left the campsite like a dump too."

Some people argued in the replies that the capacity had increased by 15,000 - but there were seemingly not enough portaloos to cope with the added crowd.

Others claimed that the locations of the toilets meant long queues regardless, though the majority of the people agreed with Mr Warde.
