Electric Picnic sells out in just 30 minutes as festival returns for first time since 2019

Tickets for electric Picnic have sold out in just 30 minutes, festival organisers have said.

Electric Picnic 2022 tickets went on sale at 9am this morning as the massive weekend event gears up for its return to Stradbally for the first time since 2019.

The line-up for the festival was revealed yesterday morning and includes artists such as Arctic Monkeys, Dermot Kennedy, Snow Patrol, Megan Thee Stallion and Tame Impala.

Other acts that are included in the star-studded line-up are Anne Marie, The Kooks, London Grammar, Fintaines DC, CMAT, Griff, Willow, Tolu Makay and Saint Sister.

Electric Picnic takes place on Friday, September 24 until Sunday, September 26 at Stradbally Hall, Co Laois.

"We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who stuck with us and held on to tickets", festival bosses wrote on social media today.

In 2021, the festival asked Laois County Council to reverse the decision on the cancellation of Electric Picnic but the event was called off for the second year in a row.

Those who held onto their tickets for the 2020 and 2021 editions of the festival, which were both eventually cancelled, can use them for Electric Picnic 2022.

Dublin singer Dermot Kennedy took to social media yesterday to express his excitement about playing at this year's festival, explaining that it feels "surreal".

He said: "I first played @epfestival 7 years ago, to about 20 people sitting in front of the stage at 2 in the afternoon. And I almost didn’t make my set cause they wouldn’t let me into the Artist car park in my old Ford Fiesta.

"I’ve waited and waited for my turn, 70,000 people this time. Thank you!"
