Electric Picnic 2022: How to get there, festival line-up and banned items

Electric Picnic 2022 kicks off today in Stradbally and sees the beloved festival return for the first time since before the Covid-19 pandemic began. The festival will take place from today, September 2 to Sunday September 4.

From getting to Electric Picnic to the festival's epic line-up to items you can't bring in, there is plenty you need to know before making your way to Electric Picnic 2022. So it's important to be prepared ahead of the big weekend.

Weather forecast

Unfortunately festival goes will need to pack plenty of wet gear as heavy rain and wind is expected. Here is the forecast for the weekend:

Today:

Cloudy today with scattered showers and some heavy rain in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures range from 17 to 22 degrees. Tonight will be cloudy and wet with some clear spells.

Tomorrow:

Mix of sunny spells and showers with temperatures ranging from 14 to 18 degrees.

Sunday:

Strong winds expected on Sunday morning with sunny spells and scattered showers throughout the day. Heavy rain likely in the evening but should clear overnight. Temperatures will range from 17 to 21 degrees.

How to get to Electric Picnic

Marathon Coaches are running coach services from Custom House bus stop 407 and North Wall Quay in Dublin to and from Stradbally from September 1 to 4. Early Bird bus tickets can be booked for €31 including booking fee, while full priced tickets online cost €36. Meanwhile, tickets at the bus stop will cost €40. All tickets are return tickets.

Travelmaster will also be running a nationwide bus service to Electric Picnic from €30 which will run from September 1 until 4. There will also be Irish Concert Travel which will run a nationwide coach service from September 2 with a return journey on September 5.

If travelling to Electric Picnic by car, take the M7 Southbound and exit at Ballydavis Interchange Junction 16, following event signage to Electric Picnic. Portlaoise Train Station is the closest station to the festival. Martley’s will be running a shuttle bus from Portlaoise train station to Electric Picnic. Who is playing Electric Picnic 2022?

The line-up for Electric Picnic 2022 is rather stacked with both Irish and international artists expected to delight festival goers. The headliners for Friday, September 2 are Dermot Kennedy and Megan Thee Stallion.

On Saturday, September 3, the headliners are Tame Impala and Picture This and on Sunday, the headliners are Arctic Monkeys and Snow Patrol. Other huge names performing across the weekend include Anne Marie, Becky Hill, Annie Mac, Fontaines D.C., CMAT, James Vincent McMorrow, London Grammar, Glass Animals, The Kooks and The Coronas.

Are there still tickets for Electric Picnic 2022?

Electric Picnic 2022 completely sold out in just 30 minutes when tickets went on sale earlier this year.

Banned items

As per usual, there are certain items you cannot bring into Electric Picnic. Such items include air horns, campfires, cooking stoves, drones, fireworks, flares, unidentifiable substances and professional cameras.

The HSE will introduce a new drug-testing service at this year's Electric Picnic which will see them alert festival goers if dangerous drugs have been detected at the event.

How do I charge my phone at Electric Picnic?

Three Charging will be providing charging facilities in the Main Arena, Late Night Arena and Jimi Hendrix Campsite.

Is there food and drink at electric Picnic 2022?

There will be over 100 food stalls at Electric Picnic.
