The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency at the Department of Homeland Security, led by Jen Easterly, is actively engaged in supporting state and local election officials across the nation amidst threats of violence and harassment. The agency provides resources, training, and assistance to help protect election infrastructure and ensure the safety of election workers.

Election officials, who are integral members of our communities, have faced ongoing threats due to unfounded claims of election fraud, particularly following the 2020 election. These threats not only jeopardize the safety of officials and their families but also undermine the integrity of the democratic process.

Despite these challenges, the agency emphasizes that election infrastructure has never been more secure. Election officials have implemented numerous safeguards, such as offline voting systems, paper records for verification, cybersecurity controls, and post-election auditing, to mitigate risks and ensure the accuracy of the electoral process.

Foreign adversaries like Russia, Iran, and China pose a serious threat to U.S. elections by attempting to interfere and influence the electoral outcomes. The agency, in collaboration with the intelligence community and the FBI, has issued advisories to address these threats and protect the integrity of American elections.

Americans are encouraged to actively participate in the electoral process, engage with election officials, and support the safeguarding of democracy. By working together and remaining vigilant against external threats, the nation can uphold the principles of free and fair elections.
