Elderly Woman Left Burned After Boyfriend Dumped Hot Soup On Her for 'Talking Too Much': Police

A Texas man has been arrested and detained after reportedly giving his elderly girlfriend third-degree burns by spilling extremely hot soup on her, authorities say.

35-year-old Alexander Alton McDavid has been charged with assault and causing bodily injury (previous conviction), continuous violence against the family, injury to the elderly (intentional, knowingly or reckless), resisting arrest, search or transportation and terroristic threats towards a family member or household member.

McDavid got into an argument with his 67-year-old girlfriend on February 28, telling her she was talking too much and getting angry.

The victim was taking soup out of the microwave when McDavid allegedly hit the platter, intentionally spilling soup onto the victim's shoulder and causing severe burns. She was then unable to call the police or travel to a police station as she does not possess a car or a phone, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by KWTX.

The victim left the home to go to the Social Security Office days after the incident occurred. During the outing, she stopped by a police station and reported the assault to law enforcement. She provided authorities with a written statement recounting the incident and allowed them to take photos of her injuries.

The victim also reported that McDavid had been physically abusing her consistently, a behavior which she stated began about a year after the couple started living together. She stated that he previously choked her, but she did not report the incident to law enforcement.

McDavid was arrested and booked into the McLennan County Jail.
