Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Co Limerick this afternoon, Wednesday September 7 2022.
The incident occurred at around 4.15pm when gardai and emergency services were alerted to a two-car collision on the N21, Ballingowan, Newcastle West.
Sadly, the driver of one of the cars, who was a man in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene but no other injuries were reported.
The road remains closed his evening to allow for a technical examination to be conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward with any information they may have.
Investigators are also appealing to road users who were travelling in the area between 4pm and 4pm with camera footage (including dash cam), to make it available to them.

In a statement released this evening, a garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in County Limerick, today Wednesday 7th September 2022.
“At approximately 4:15 pm, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a two-car collision that occurred on the N21, Ballingowan, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick.
“The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 80s was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
“The road is currently closed to allow for a technical examination to be conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.”
