Elderly cyclist rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries' after crash in south Dublin

An elderly man was rushed to hospital after a "serious" crash in south Dublin this morning.

The crash was between a car and a bike and happened on the Stillorgan Road in Donnybrook. Emergency services attended the scene at around 11:30am.

The cyclist, a man in aged his 70's, was taken to St Vincent's Hospital and later transferred to Beaumont hospital where he is being treated for "serious injuries".

The road was closed this afternoon while the scene was investigated but has since re-opened.

A garda spokesperson appealed for witnesses to come forward.

They said: "Gardaí are appealing to any road users who may have video footage or anyone who witnessed the incident on the Stillorgan Road (N11) to come forward to them.

"Anyone with information can contact Donnybrook Garda Station at 01 666 9200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
