FromSoftware added a ton of new bosses to Elden Ring with the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. These enemies further challenges players' abilities and skills.
One of the new bosses in the DLC is the Chief Bloodfiend who is a giant, deformed creature wielding a massive club-like weapon. Don't let this enemy's size fool you as it can move relatively quickly and can catch you off guard if you are not careful.
This guide focuses on helping players know everything they need to about the Chief Bloodfiend to defeat the boss reliably. These include its location, items to prepare, and how to fight the boss itself.
Chief Bloodfiend Location
The first thing you need to know about the Chief Bloodfiend boss is where you can actually encounter it.
This enemy is located in the Rivermouth Cave and is a completely optional boss. This means that you do not need to fight it if you just want to complete the campaign, according to Eurogamer.
Preparing for the Fight
Before you head to where the boss is found, there are some items that you should get first to make the battle a little bit easier. It is recommended to use a Dragoncrest Shield Talisman +2 to gain more physical protection.
There is also the potential for blood loss which makes having the Stalwart Horn Charm +2 a good choice. If you do not have this item, you can instead make do with Stanching Boluses so you can lower your Hemorrhage status, Hardcore Gamer said.
Defeating the Chief Bloodfiend
The Chief Bloodfiend boss can perform fast-flowing combos and alternate between using his giant club or slamming its fists down. Keep a lookout for these attacks and dodge accordingly to keep yourself from getting hit.
What makes these attacks even more dangerous is that they can extend to multiple consecutive hits that can still hit you even if you dodge the first strikes. Furthermore, the Chief Bloodfiend can jump and lunge in your direction to get up close and personal.
Another attack that you should be wary of is when the boss jumps while standing still as he lands to cause a wide area-of-effect wave. This can knock you over if you are hit and will leave you vulnerable.
The Chief Bloodfiend is capable of spitting out blood from its mouth that, if it hits you, will increase your bleed meter. This attack ends with a wider area-of-effect explosion of red mist, according to IGN.
Rewards for Beating the Chief Bloodfiend
After you successfully take down the Chief Bloodfiend boss, you will immediately receive 80,000 Runes and Bloodfiend Hexer's Ashes.
This is a Spirit Ash that can cast Blood Hexes to build up blood loss status on your enemies. It can also perform devastating melee attacks.
