Elden Ring and its recent Shadow of the Erdtree expansion gives a major focus to fighting difficult monsters and bosses but it can sometimes be a game that centers around collecting stuff.
Some of these include gestures and in particular, the "O Mother" gesture that is required in order to access a large area in the northeastern part of the map. This region, known as the Hinterland, is needed to complete Count Ymir's questline.
Getting the O Mother Gesture
The first thing you should know is where exactly you can find this hidden gesture. For this part, you need access to Bonny Village, which is located west of Scadu Alyus and southeast of Moorth Ruins.
The O Mother gesture can be found directly north of the Bonny Village map icon at the far north end of the village's area. After traveling to the village, go east and double-jump over the small ravine that bisects the village while riding Torrent, according to Polygon.
After that, you need to ride north until you see a lone tree located at the north end of Bonny Village. Underneath that particular tree you will find a headless statue and interacting with it will give you the O Mother gesture.
If you are wondering how to get to Bonny Village, the area can be accessed through an underground tunnel that you can reach from Moorth Ruins. There is a hole in the ground located east of the latter's Site of Grace that will serve as your entry point to the village.
Unlocking the Hinterland Area
Now that you have the O Mother gesture, you can work on unlocking the locked area in the northeast part of the map.
In order to do this, you have to use the O Mother gesture in front of the Status of Marika in the room on the right side of the Shadow Keep, Back Gate Site of Grace, said OneEsports.
To get there, travel through the following areas; Bonny Village, Bridge Leading to the Village, Church District Highroad, Church District Entrance, Storehouse, Back Section, Storehouse, Loft, and Shadow Keep, Back Gate.
After using the O Mother gesture in front of the Statue of Marika, it will move towards the right to open a path that leads to the Hinterland. Through this is the Fingerstone area that is needed for players in a significant quest later on.
There are many old enemies that you will find here as well as Scadutree Fragments and many other rewards that would make unlocking it worth your while, according to Forbes.
