Elden Ring magic: Types, list of Sorceries, Incantations, and more

Elden Ring Gameplay Trailer Magic.

Elden Ring, like many FromSoftware games before it, includes a fairly comprehensive magic system. Some of the classes in Elden Ring start off able to use magic and any character can eventually take part in flinging spells, with the right investments. In general, Elden Ring offers more choice than any of FromSoftware's previous titles, and in our opinion, it is one of the best Xbox games and best PC games available.

Here's what you need to know about magic in Elden Ring, including a complete list of Sorceries and Incantations found in the base game and the DLC expansion, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Be warned that this list will contain spoilers so read at your own risk.

Elden Ring: Magic types

Casting magic spells can help you take down foes in Elden Ring.  (Image credit: Windows Central)

Magic in Elden Ring is divided into two parts: Sorceries and Incantations. Sorceries require the Intelligence stat to use, while Incantations require the Faith stat. Both spells and miracles use FP, which is increased by raising your character's Intelligence stat when leveling up. FP can be restored by drinking from your character's Flasks of Cerulean Tears.

Sorceries require a Staff to cast, while Incantations require a Sacred Seal. Functionally, Sorceries and Incantations seem to be very similar to Sorceries and Miracles from Demon's Souls and the Dark Souls trilogy of games.

Keep reading on this page to get additional information from our list of Sorceries followed by the list of Incantations.
