IT’S the final day of group stage action in The National’s Euro 2024 charity sweepstake.
By the end of Wednesday, we’ll know which 16 celebs and politicians have made it through to the next round.
There are some big games to come today with places still up for grabs, so here’s a look at who’s going head to head.
First up, we have Elaine C Smith’s Ukraine against Pete Wishart’s Belgium in what is a very tight group.
Ukraine got off to a rocky start by suffering a 3-0 loss to Romania. Things weren’t looking much better when they went 1-0 down to Slovakia in their next game but they turned it around with a 2-1 win.
Likewise, Belgium suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Slovakia in their opener but did manage to pick up three points against Romania with a 2-0 victory.
Smith is playing for Scottish Women’s Aid while Wishart is hoping to win £1000 for Scottish Charity Air Ambulance.
In the same group, we have the SNP’s Hannah Bardell’s (above) Romania taking on Scottish author Jenny Colgan’s Slovakia.
With the four best third-placed finishes set to advance to the last 16, it’s all to play for in this group.
Bardell is playing for Chron’s & Colitis UK while Colgan hopes to raise money for Kidney Research UK.
Elsewhere, there’s also action to come from Group F as the SNP’s candidate for Paisley and Renfrewshire North Gavin Newlands takes on Irish comedian Tadhg Hickey (below).
Newlands has drawn Georgia while Hickey is playing with Portugal and it’s been contrasting fortunes for the two so far.
Portugal kicked off their tournament with a 2-1 win over the Czech Republic which was followed up by a comfortable 3-0 win over Türkiye.
Georgia meanwhile suffered a 3-1 loss in their opener to Türkiye before drawing 1-1 with the Czech Republic.
Newlands is playing for Renfrewshire Toy Bank and Hickey has picked UNWRA as his charity.
Also competing in the same group is Alba leader Alex Salmond, who has drawn the Czech Republic and he’ll be taking on Scots singer Iona Fyfe (above), who is hoping Türkiye can pick up three points.
The former first minister is playing for Erskine Veterans while Fyfe is playing for Refuweegee.
