Ekin-Su's Dancing on Ice debut at risk as she falls ill days before launch

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has been put on bed rest by doctors and “banned” from training just days before the Dancing on Ice launch show.

Almost overnight the Love Island winner has fallen ill with a fever, after months of rigorous training to prepare for her debut on the first live show this weekend.

The 28-year-old, who is partnered with Brendyn Hatfield on the ITV dance competition, took to Twitter to break the news to her fans: “Very ill. Doctors have told me to rest hopefully I can recover very quickly ready for Sunday."

Her followers were gutted and sent well wishes to the reality star to recover quickly and prioritise her health over being ready for her first routine.

One tweeted: “Oh girl, you definitely need to look after yourself, the most important thing is that you rest up and feel better! Everything else can wait. Sending all the love and positive vibes to you for a speedy recovery.”

“Feel better soon lovely. Definitely rest up, need to give your body and immune system a break,” a second agreed, as a third added: “Oh no! Talk about bad timing, rest up and hope you feel better soon.”

Her boyfriend and fellow Love Island winner Davide Sancliment i also took to Instagram to share a snap of Ekin-Su wrapped up in bed, as he assured fans he was taking care of her.

“Someone’s home with the fever… in good hands though,” he wrote over the sweet image, as he hugged her in bed.

The illness comes only days after Ekin-Su glammed up for the photocall to promote the brand-new season of Dancing on Ice.

However, it seems something is in the air, as judge and Olympic champion skater, Christopher Dean has also suffered a nasty injury this week.

The 64-year-old broke his finger in a non-ice related accident, leaving many fans worried that he wouldn’t make it to the show on Sunday.

He remained light-hearted about the situation, as he revealed the unfortunate way he sustained his injury.

“We were trying the Iron Lotus,” Chris joked about a difficult skating manoeuvre, “but ended up doing a Half Nelson... or did I just fall over a suitcase in the middle of the night [laughing emoji].”

While Chris is set to appear on Sunday, it is unclear if Ekin-Su will be well enough to perform her first routine.
