Eight 'targets' tipped to become Newcastle's next signing after Tonali transfer announcement

Newcastle United are expecting to wrap up the signing of Sandro Tonali in the coming days following Italy's surprise early exit from the under-21s European Championships. The AC Milan star has already agreed terms on a six-year contract at St James' Park ahead of a transfer worth at least £55 million.

Attention will soon turn to Newcastle's next senior transfer move, with talks ongoing for Southampton full-back Tino Livramento. Eddie Howe has targeted 'elite' additions with the return of Champions League football this season, with another midfielder expected to be on the radar.

Speculation continues to link a host of names with a switch to Tyneside, with certain rumours far more credible than others. Newcastle's owners have proven they will not be tempted by superstar names, while Financial Fair Play and UEFA's own sustainability regulations continue to limit their business.

Out of all the potential signings so far, who do the bookmakers currently view as the most likely signing to follow Sandro Tonali through the door? Here's a look at bet365's latest odds on who Newcastle will move for next.

Dominik Szoboszlai - 2/1

For weeks, the decision facing Newcastle has seemingly been between James Maddison and Szoboszlai. Now Tottenham have landed the former, the Magpies are the favourites for the Hungary captain, although he is listed as 6/5 to still be an RB Leipzig player come the end of the window.

Kieran Tierney - 6/4

Rumours over the out-of-favour Arsenal defender have quietened in recent weeks, with the Scotland international reportedly keen to move this summer. Newcastle remain the favourites in the betting market, ahead of a return to Celtic (2/1) or a reunion with Unai Emery at Aston Villa (12/1).

Federico Chiesa - 5/1

The Euro 2020 winner is said to be unhappy working under Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus, with the Serie A giants also open to a sale after missing out on Champions League football. Liverpool are the favourites (9/2) if Chiesa does move, with the Magpies next in line ahead of Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Mohammed Kudus - 7/1

Brighton are said to be in negotiations with Ajax over a move for the Ghana international, although the Dutch giants are holding out for a fee in the region of £40 million. Newcastle have been tentatively linked with the attacker, along with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Harry Maguire - 9/1

The current priority is another 'elite' addition to the midfield or attacking ranks, but another central defender is also said to be on Newcastle's agenda. Maguire has endured a dismal spell at Old Trafford in recent seasons, with Aston Villa and Tottenham leading the odds to sign the England international.

Harvey Barnes - 10/1

Newcastle may yet still raid Leicester City this summer despite missing out on Maddison, according to the bookmakers. Barnes is also expected to leave following relegation, with West Ham (11/8) currently his odds-on destination.

Callum Hudson-Odoi - 10/1

The Chelsea winger is expected to depart Stamford Bridge with just a single year left on his contract, although the Blues remain 6/1 to keep the England international. A move to Saudi Arabia is his most likely destination according to the bookmakers, with Fulham, Nottingham Forest and West Ham also ahead of the Magpies.

Sadio Mane - 10/1

The ex-Liverpool star has struggled in the Bundesliga, and is being tipped for an exit after a single season. Mane responded to a recent question over a move to Newcastle with 'never say never', but a move to Saudi Arabia (7/2) or Chelsea (9/1) are considered more likely by the bookmakers.
