Newcastle United could look to capitalise on Barcelona's poor financial position as the La Liga look admit they may have to sell more players. The Barca president Joan Laporta has played down suggestions that Frenkie de Jong could be sold to help ease their financial problems, but admitted there are several players in Xavi's squad that will be moved on this summer.
Earlier this year, a report in Marca suggested De Jong could be among nine players that could leave the Nou Camp this summer. The report claims Neto, Clement Lenglet, Sergino Dest, Oscar Mingueza, Samuel Umtiti, Frenkie de Jong, Riqui Puig, Memphis Depay and Martin Braithwaite will be made available this summer.
Lenglet has since joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan until the end of the season and speculation continues to be rife surrounding Dutch dup De Jong and Depay. It's unlikely the Magpies would make an approach for the likes of Neto, Dest or Umtiti having strengthened their back line this summer and would also be unlikely to splash the cash beyond their means having promised a sensible approach.

Nonetheless, the remaining players are potential departures at the Nou Camp this summer. During an interview with ESPN, Laporta said: "We still have work to do, there are players coming in and out, but we have done a good job adding players. They know that there are players who the manager doesn't have [room for] anymore for whatever reason. So we have to accommodate an exit for them. They [transfer negotiators] are on course for an excellent rating."
Barca agreed a deal to sell their TV rights to investment company Sixth Street, as they look to combat their mounting pile of depth. Laporta added: "The TV rights were sold and that has added important revenue. We are on path to being sound.
"We have not mortgaged our future because we think this will turn into important growth and we're going to find more money than what we're generating. I've very satisfied with these two moves. We had to manage the chaos as it should be managed and that is skilfully. We had to make decisions.
"We were given a club on the verge of folding. It has not only overcome this, but is now back in a financial position where it can face any challenge in front of it, but we have to work harder to increase our earnings."
